Where is Camping de la Côte d’Argent?
The campsite is located at 134 Route de Contaut, in Hourtin-Plage (33990), on the Gironde coast, about 300 metres from the Atlantic Ocean. This is the famous Côte d’Argent, that long ribbon of fine sandy beaches lined with dunes and pine forests running all the way down to the Arcachon Basin.
Another major asset: Lake Hourtin, the largest natural lake in France, is just 4 km away. Perfect for alternating between ocean swims and gentler water activities on the lake.
As for the bigger towns, Bordeaux, Arcachon and Lacanau are all less than an hour’s drive away, making Hourtin an ideal base for exploring the Médoc.
A natural setting between pine forest and ocean
The estate spreads across a rolling, 20-hectare site in the middle of a pine forest. It’s one of the highlights of the place: the pitches are scattered in the shade of the trees, which brings coolness in high summer and a real sense of being out in nature.
The site is naturally sheltered from the wind by the dune and the forest, a genuine comfort when the west wind blows along the coast. Under the pines, the temperature stays pleasant even during a heatwave: several travellers note that you can do without air conditioning, it’s so pleasant in the shade.

- The motorhome pitches are gravelled.
- Not every pitch necessarily has an electric hook-up: mention it when booking if you need one (EDF 10A connection).
- Bring a long enough electric cable (35 m minimum recommended), as the distance to the hook-up can vary.
- Each pitch can accommodate up to 6 people (a baby counts as one person).
- Pets are allowed on the pitches (which is not the case in the rentals).
