Michèle’s motorhome trip in Tuscany
We have just returned from a 15-day trip in Tuscany, more precisely in a part of Tuscany because we had to choose only an area in this region full of wonders. Italy, more precisely Tuscany, is the last trip we did, but we already started to think about our summer destination. It was when we came back from the February holidays (in the south of Spain) after a long and rainy winter that we decided to go in Tuscany. We then started to do researches about it. We bought maps and manuals and looked up the internet. Then, I chose what I want to see and I take notes on a paper. Lastly, I put the locations I’m interested in on the map and I start my itinerary… It’s a little bit more complicated than that, especially in Tuscany where there are so many things to see and to visit.
So I choose and the rest will be for another trip.
We started by visiting Florence, favorite location for the entire family. Do not hesitate to stay in a campsite (a shuttle is taking you to the historical town center). Then we visited Lucca, wonderful medieval city. We then went to San Gimignano with its numerous high towers full of history, to the metallic sources of Pomarancce and to the Geothermal Natural Park Biancane where there is natural lagoon. We had a break at the beaches of Marima di Giorno for a swim, and at the Terme di Saturnia where you can bathe in Sulfur water at 37 degrees… In Tuscany, we enjoyed the inlands, the villages, the hills, the cypress, the “wave” at “the Grande Padre” seated with their stick in front of their houses.
Michèle’s memory during her motorhome trip in Tuscany!
One particular memory at San Gimignano where a harpist delighted us with her tuneful melodies, we were delighted, we got goose bumps, even the children maintained an absolute silence (rare thing). We then talked to her: she is living in the village et she comes here when she wants to play her harp. We recorded here with her authorization to share on my website the magic of the moment. Otherwise, we also enjoyed eating pizza, a real one, in Luccas alleys. Or even a soft ice-cream as they know how to do it in San Gimignano. Some place are a little bit “overrated” and touristic. but you have to look at it with new eyes and the magic works.
Discover Michèle, our adept of travel
My name is Michèle, I’m married to Gérard. Our shared passion is travelling, all kind of travelling ? Non, motorhome travelling (I’m scared on a plane). We started using motorhome in 1982… with, guess what, a van Volkswagen transporter which dropped us after 350,000 kms. I’m not going to list all the other vehicles. Today, our travel companion is a Carado A461.
