It is always important to have tips for a motorhome trip. Waking up in a different place every day is wonderful! But camping is also a bit of a struggle…
For a first attempt or just a quick reminder, here are 10 tips for a motorhome successful trip.
1. Manage your resources
Don’t forget that in RV, your resources are not inexhaustible! Electricity and water must be well managed or it will be necessary to search for water or connection points at the last minute…
A little tip for those who have a shower, cut off the water while you soar for example!
2. Bring good accessories
During your camping trips, some objects are of great help and can make your life easier!
In addition to your tank, a jerrycan will allow you to fill up with water quickly if the water point is too far! You can also use wedges to maintain your motorhome…
For fans of water sports (surfer and kitesurfer), don’t forget to bring some sand removal plates and a good rope for the towing: by passion we always want to get as close as possible to the spot and we end up blocked!
3. Anticipate the night stages
It is important to find a place to park or spend the night! Avoid hassles and anticipate your trip beforehand…

4. Measure your vehicle
Measuring your vehicle may sound stupid, but it’s a very important thing! Take into account the dimensions, especially the height of the vehicle. If necessary, write it on a post-it to think about it. A very useful reminder especially in the crossing of cities with narrow streets or the influx of height bars…
5. Keep your things together
Watch out for corners! Secure your belongings in closets and drawers to avoid any incidents. Make sure you close the fridge so you don’t have to pick it up at the first turn…
Tip against noise while driving: have plastic dishes!
6. Monitor your fuel consumption
Lift your foot on the road, between driving at 90 km/h and 110 km/h in a motorhome, the consumption increases strongly and on a long journey as on a small pls, it makes a hell of a budget… Then be careful of it!
7. Don’t clutter yourself
Pay attention to the load, don’t take away your entire home even if you have large storage spaces! You only need the first necessities to enjoy your trip…
On light motorhomes (PTAC < 3500 kg), your flexibility will naturally be reduced (by about 500 kg for loading, which includes all passengers).
8. Plan a reasonable journey
Take the time to discover your motorhome and familiarise with this mode of travelling. A first trip is an opportunity to get used to your vehicle. The adventure will come as you go!
Avoid highways that are expensive and monotonous. The ideal is to use secondary roads to multiply discoveries. In motorhome, the important thing is not the point of arrival, but the path that leads us there…
9. Parking doesn’t mean camping!
In the public domain, no table, chair or awning can be taken out, under penalty. Make a good difference and respect the standards. Beware of noise, be discreet, you are not alone!
10. Control the use of devices
Heating, tanks, TV, gas cylinder… The operation of each equipment must be understood and controlled before your departure.
Avoid improvisation! Everything is explained in detail in the booklet of your vehicle.
