The Rhône department is known for its river of the same name. Apart from that, it is also one of those French territories that has a semi-continental climate. Thus, the winter is harsh, while the summer is hot and sunny. One of the key destinations in this area is the Beaujolais. This region stretches across the northern Rhône and the southern Saône-et-Loire. It promises an unforgettable journey through its many tourist attractions. During their journey in a motorhome, travellers can, among other things, visit the golden stone villages. Alix, for example, is renowned for its monumental buildings, such as the feudal castle of Marzé and the conventual chapel dating from 1768. On the premises, globetrotters will find a 17th-century baroque-fronted church, an impluvium washhouse and a former 7th-century Benedictine priory.

In France, the release of Beaujolais Nouveau is an event in the country, especially in villages and cities that consume a lot of wine, such as Bordeaux. At the end of November, you will find bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau in all supermarkets, but we advise you to go directly to the producer!
It is usually served with good charcuterie, the French tradition of good eating! It goes perfectly with a rosette, a Jesus, or a pistachio sausage. But it also goes very well with good cheeses from the region such as Saint Marcellin, or Saint Félicien (from Mère Richard of course!).
So are you ready to go? Don’t forget the Beaujolais region, the destination not to be missed in a motorhome if you are passing through the department… So don’t hesitate any longer and live your travelling experiences to the full!
