Rights and obligations to welcome motorhomes on your private land
If you have space on your property and would like to welcome motorhome travelers to your home for one or more nights for their trip, do not hesitate any longer, it is possible with CaraMaps!
Many of you tell us that they would like to begin the adventure but that they are afraid of limits and restrictions… This is why we have prepared a little summary of the rules to apply and the process to follow for creating your motorhome area at home:
WHAT THE LAW SAYS TO WELCOME MOTORHOMES ON YOUR LAND
According to the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960 :
- you can welcome a maximum of 6 pitches or 20 travelers in the same period
- camper accommodation must not exceed 90 days/year
- people accepting motorhomes and campervans to stay on their private land must have a site licence
- they must ask and plan permission from the local authority
- better to get an Exemption Certificate to welcome motorhomes on your land
CARAMAPS ADVICE FOR WELCOMING MOTORHOMES TRAVELERS
Once these criteria have been fulfilled, here are some CaraMaps team tips to promote and encourage motorhomes travelers to stop on your place:
1) The price
We advise not to display a price higher than 15€/night services included, in order not to exceed the price of a campsite or a service area. Especially since that they often offer more various services than an area in a private home (drain, showers, restaurant, wifi, etc.)
2) The land
To accommodate all types of vehicles, make sure you have flat, stabilized and easily accessible pitches. Moreover, it is better to choose a wide and easily accessible entrance for larger motorhomes.
3) The services
Everything is possible, including access to showers, barbecues or even offer a breakfast service! But it is interesting to propose travelers at least satisfy their basic need. We advise you to let them fill their drinking water supply and provide them with electricity. According to us, you will attract a greater number of motorhomes travelers.
