The word « Halloween » comes from the combination of various english terms « All Hallows Eve » which means « the evening of All Saints ». With over 3000 years on the clock, Halloween is primarily a Celtic and Gallic festival known as « Samhain », which can be translated by the month of November. This ritual party was celebrated once to welcome the new year and the spirit of the dead.
A well-established legend in the customs !
The Halloween legend tells that Jack O’Lantern dared to challenge the devil and for that, was expelled from the Paradise on October 31. For this act, he was condemned to wander with a lantern for eternity. Today, the legend is symbolized by carving and decorating pumpkins in the shape of the head of Jack O’Lantern and placing a candle inside.
